Okay, in this post we will be talking about email lists as a whole the main problem most new list builders have and why internet marketing products don't help you.
Okay so how do most people get there list built:
- Free Offer or Giveaway
- on the backend of someone else product as a pixel or JV (Joint Venture)Partner.
- Paid Traffic
- Free Traffic
- Selling another product
- Affiliate Offer
- Solo Ads
- Buying someone's list, not necessarily Solo Ads but maybe Just another marketers list or pixel.
Okay this is not an exhaustive list but they share one thing in common and that is in order for you to get your list built, you must offer something of value to the emial subscriber before they will subscribe. So, here is where the rubber meets the road. what do you offer them, what market are they in, where are you as a newbie going to get something to offer?
So here are the problems as I see it, and I know because I am one of you. So I am going to focus on the internet marketing community because that fits my expertise. But there are similar solutions for almost any market, at least the larger markets.
- You need a traffic source
- You need something of value to give away
- you need an email campaign
- you then need something to sell in fact multiple things to sell.
So like most of you I have been buying internet marketing products for nearly 20 years. Some have been well worth the money and others have been absolute junk. But here is what I see is the problem with all the list building products I have seen to date; They all require you or I to have something to give away and if they have a done for you solution, the problem is that if 1000 people purchase it and use it then everyone on the list you are planning to build probably has seen it to through other marketers. It's not too likely that you are going to get people that are not already on someone else lists. So any duplicate content being sent out is seen by just about everybody, which makes “done for you” products a waste of time. Yes I know that most people do nothing with the stuff they buy, but it only takes 1 or 2 folks to be sending it out and people will just start jumping off lists, especially those lists they just joined.
So now you have to build your own give away product, okay so we build our own give away product and now we have to build an email campaign. Again if you buy a course with a already built email campaign, it probably isn't suited for your exact niche or it is n't exactly setup for you exact style of give away and even after changing the DFY campaign, something just isn't right.
So you now have to build your own email Campaign. Okay so now we have built our give away and now we have built our email campaign, and now we have to find a product to sell.
And so it goes on and on and on. So when those Internet Guru's say “It's Not Your Fault, I understand why You Fail and I have the solution” DFY ! Well….. I say they are all full of crap.
Not to Mention you also have to keep your list active which means 30 days worth of emails, and at least 1/3 of those have to provide real value, and about 1/5 of those should provide a sales method to capture revenue for you the sender.
Plus I am not even touching on some of the real strategies that go into email marketing.
So if you ever wonder why you have never built a list or tried to or you wonder why all those internet marketing courses haven't helped you then I completely understand, because I have been there. So I finally had to set down and really think through the whole process, and then I had to think through what value I could bring, and then what about the funnel and again…. on and on and on.
So Once again, I believe I have an answer to those questions and to be honest I am still working on it, but at least I know exactly what where I am going now and how to get there.
